Keynote Session: Welcome, TNCODC Updates and Celebrating Progress – Building Momentum, New Drivers for TNCODC
Our guest speaker for this session was Dr. Kenneth Minkoff of Zia Partners. Dr. Minkoff described progress in Tennessee regarding all programs and all staff becoming co-occurring capable and identified future steps for progress. COD capabilities in relation to ASAM 4th Edition Criteria as well as for Crisis Services and Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers was also discussed.

Session Two: Provider Successes and Challenges related to Co-Occurring Disorder Capabilities.
This session included Learning Community Members from various agencies to share their successes, challenges, and recommendations regarding increasing COD capabilities.

Session Three: Practical Next Steps for Improving Co-Occurring Services for Programs and Staff
This session, also conducted by Dr. Minkoff, illustrated what COD capability looks like in detail for adult and child behavioral health and criminal justice programs. Case studies examples are also shared to further inform implementation and practical steps.

This session was in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. The session covered current trends and data figures regarding Opioid Overdose in Tennessee as well as resources available for overdose prevention and harm reduction.

Session Two: Full Heart, Empty Tank: Regaining Compassion Satisfaction and Managing Compassion Fatigue.
This session educated on the differences between compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout. Dr. Van Eys also identified strategies to create a culture of care and compassion.

Session Three: Tennessee Recovery Courts: The Most Difficult Two-Year Course of a Lifetime
This session informed about the overall Recovery Court structure in Tennessee and National Adult Recovery Court Best Practice Standards. Dr. Crosson also discussed theories and practices that make Recovery Courts effective.

Theory and Practice in the Treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders | COD 101 Training
A recording of the live training held on October 20th, 2020 as conducted by Dr. Vickie Harden. This training covers the complex nature of co-occurring disorders, treatment and interventions, and our role as helpers and clinicians in supporting recovery. The evaluation must be completed in order to obtain a certificate of attendance.

2019 Co-Occurring Disorders Summit | March 8, 2019
A statewide COD Summit was held in Nashville on March 8, 2019. There were 111 attendees from 41 organizations. The four topics addressed were the status of MAT in Tennessee with a Provider Panel discussion; Family-Centered Treatment Services; Creating an Organizational Culture of Self-Care; and Evolving Trends In Substance Use.
